IPTV EPG Not Working – Fix Your TV Guide

The Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) shows what is on now and what is coming next on each channel. When EPG stops working, you lose the ability to browse schedules, set reminders, and use catch-up features. Here is how to fix it.

Why Does EPG Stop Working?

Common causes include:

• The EPG/XMLTV URL has changed on your provider's end
• The EPG data has not refreshed in your app's cache
• Time zone settings in your app are incorrect
• The app has a bug that blocks EPG loading

Fix 1 – Force Refresh the EPG

In TiviMate: Go to Settings → Playlists → tap your playlist → select "Update EPG Now". Wait a few minutes for the guide to repopulate.

In IPTV Smarters: Pull down to refresh the channel list, then navigate to the EPG tab and wait for it to load.

In Kodi PVR: Go to TV → Guide, press the menu button, and select "Refresh EPG Data".

Fix 2 – Check the EPG Source URL

Verify that the XMLTV URL in your app settings is correct and active. You can test it by pasting it into a browser — it should download an XML file. If the URL returns an error, contact your IPTV provider for the updated EPG URL.

Fix 3 – Correct the Time Zone Setting

EPG times are relative to your configured time zone. If the guide shows events at the wrong time (e.g., 3 hours off), you need to adjust the EPG offset in your player:

• TiviMate: Settings → EPG → EPG Time Offset — adjust by ±hours until guide matches actual broadcast time.
• IPTV Smarters: Settings → EPG Time Shift.

Fix 4 – Clear App Cache and Re-fetch EPG

Go to your device's app settings, find your IPTV app, and tap Clear Cache. Then reopen the app and allow the EPG to download fresh. This often resolves EPG issues caused by corrupted cached data.

Fix 5 – Increase EPG Fetch Days

Some apps default to fetching only 1–2 days of EPG data. In TiviMate, increase the EPG Days setting to 7 for a full week of programme schedule in the guide.
